Parrenthorn High School Library

An original idea. That can't be too hard. The library must be full of them.- Stephen Fry

Our school library is a comfortable but vibrant physical and digital learning space where reading, research, thinking, imagination and creativity are central to our pupils’ information-to-knowledge journey and to their personal, social and cultural growth.

It is situated in the heart of the school and pupils and staff can borrow books, eBooks and audiobooks, consult reference texts, and peruse magazines or our collections of graphic novels and manga.

The stock is constantly updated and pupils are encouraged to request books they would like to read to ensure the stock remains current. The library is staffed by librarian Mrs Day and a team of pupil librarians who are selected on an annual basis. World Book Day is celebrated, we run book clubs and pupils take part in the Bolton Children’s Fiction Award and the National Reading Championships

We are open Monday-Friday and run a Homework Club Monday-Thursday after school 3-4pm which pupils can attend to complete homework with help from staff.
