Pupil Leadership
Parrenthorn High School is a community in which pupils are fully integrated in pupil leadership roles with extensive opportunities to develop leadership skills to help prepare them for the next stage in their education, training or employment.
Year 11 Leadership Team
The Year 11 leadership team consists of Head Girl/Boy, Deputy Head Girl/Boy, Senior Prefects and Prefects. Members of the appointed leadership team apply through completing an application form and undertaking a formal interview process. Successful applicants must demonstrate exemplary behaviour and model Parrenthorn's core values to their peers and in the wider community.
Student Council
Student Council is open to all pupils across all years. It is an excellent opportunity to be a positive influence within and outside of school. Student Council has internal elections to appoint a range of leadership positions. Many of our Student Council members also attend regional student leadership meetings, make up pupil interview panels for perspective candidates applying to join Parrenthorn and speak with local and national politicians about issues facing young people today.
Peer Leaders (Supporters/Peer Readers)
Appointed Year 10 and Year 11 pupils are available daily to support their peers. Peer Leaders complete training to equip them with the skills to help peers in their academic work, listen to their concerns or worries and help our younger pupils to settle into Year 7.
Women in Leadership
Women in leadership is a new programme aimed proving girls across the school the opportunity develop key leaderships skills and meet women in leadership roles across a range of career sectors. Last year, ten girls worked with a public speaking coach to learn how to write, prepare and deliver a lecture, speech or message to an audience.
